  1. Operation
  2. How does it work?
Our base station sends and receives internet data wirelessly to and from the radio installed at your location.

    Is it secure?
The equipment we use cycles through many frequencies during transmission, thus complying with standards set in industries such as banking and health care.

Can the signal go through trees/buildings?
Enid, Woodward and Alva systems are now equipped with frequencies that will go through trees and buildings. However, in the other areas good signal relies on having line of sight to the base station. Obstructions are overcome in most cases with the use of telescoping masts.

  3. Installation
  4. What equipment is installed?
A small antenna is mounted at the highest point of your structure; if line of sight is not achieved, a telescoping mast will be mounted next to the structure. The antenna is connected to a radio which is mounted either on the exterior or interior of the structure. Your computer or router is then connected to the radio.

How long is the wait for installation?
The installation is completed in approximately 5 to 10 business days from the time of sign-up in most cases.

What computer equipment do I need?
You will need a computer equipped with a network card. We recommend using a router for computers with Windows 2000 or earlier.

  5. Bandwidth
  6. What does "Up/Down" mean?
"Up" is used to refer to the speed at which your computer sends data to our base station. "Down" is used to refer to the speed at which your computer receives data from our base station. The speeds quoted are "up to" and are not committed information rates.

    What does "Burstable" mean?
If extra bandwidth is available, your speed will be allowed to exceed the specifications of your account.

How does eConnect compare to DSL or Dial-up?
We strive to exceed the quality of the customer service provided by DSL and Dial-up companies. In most areas our base plan is comparable to DSL base plans. In Enid, our plans offer a better speed/cost ratio than any DSL plan to our knowledge. Our base download speed exceeds Dial-up speed by approximately 4.5 times.

What happens when many users are added to the system?
We will add bandwidth to the base station to maintain the bandwidth agreements with our customers.
